Navigating Ceiling Fans:
It’s that time of year again when the summer heat is turning up but you want your house to stay cool. We have a list of some frequently asked questions when considering or shopping for a ceiling fan.
Below is a series of frequently asked questions to help you understand what it is that you and your home require out of a ceiling fan. These key considerations will help you make an informed decision about the fan that is best suited for you and the space in your home aside from the style.
How Many Blades Should I Consider? Are more blades better?
The Answer is NO. It all depends on air efficiency. A fan with 3 blades may very well produce better quality air flow than that of a 5-blade fan. The air efficiency is listed online with every fan, and if for whatever reason that it may not be, we have the ability to find that out for you and would love to help you.
How BIG can I go with my ceiling fan?
The square footage and the style of floor plan in your home will actually dictate what size you need/how big you can go.
How do I install a ceiling fan?
We would recommend that you call your electrician to safely install your ceiling fan. However, if you are an eager beaver and would like it done yesterday, CAREFULLY read the instructions that accompany your new fan and follow them EXACTLY as they are given. If you do not install your fan properly, you run the risk of causing damage to the fan, voiding your warranty, and possibly causing risk/harm to yourself. So please be careful when installing your own fan.
Some helpful tips:
- Your housing can support the weight of your fan
- Make sure your blades are no lower than 7.0-7.5’ from your floor
- It is mounted in the center of the room that you are considering installing a fan in
- The blades have at least a 12” clearance from the wall on all sides of the fan
